The Taiwan Hydrogen and Fuel Cell Partnership (THFCP) has agreed to partner with four European countries to promote R&D across the fuel cell supply chain.
At Hyvolution Paris, THFCP signed four Memoranda of Understandings (MOUs) with representatives from Ukraine, Denmark, Poland and France.
The deals could also strengthen Taiwan’s position in global hydrogen and fuel cell projects. By partnering with international stakeholders, Taiwan and its partners could jointly apply for funding, participate in global supply chains or contribute to large-scale projects beyond their own markets.
Lin Jo-Chen, THFCP CEO and Deputy Director of Taiwan Institute of Economic Research’s (TIER) Research Division 1, reportedly claimed Taiwan is a country with “arguably the most comprehensive resources for developing hydrogen fuel cells in the world.”
Lin added that more than 90% of crucial components are manufactured there. However, its small land area and high population density have led to a reliance on imports.
Recognising the need to improve local capabilities, Delta Electronics inaugurated a ‘megawatt-grade’ R&D lab for hydrogen electrolysers and fuel cells in Taiwan last December.

The company plans to mass-produce hydrogen technology solutions by the end of 2026. Its new lab will be used to validate and test its solid oxide electrolysers and fuel cells.
