HydrogenPro will deliver a 100MW electrolyser plant to a green hydrogen project being developed by Andritz at Rostock Port, Germany.
Andritz will provide the green hydrogen plant on an engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) basis, using the pressurised alkaline technology for electrolysis.
If the final customer makes an investment decision by mid-2025, Andritz anticipates receiving the notice to proceed with the plant’s supply.
The 100MW plant was ordered by Rostock EnergyPort cooperation (REPCO), a joint venture between RWE Generation SE, EnBW Neue Energien, RheinEnergie, and Rostock Port.
Overall, the project will include the electrolyser, offsites and utilities, hydrogen purification and compression systems, storage facilities and a hydrogen filling station, with commissioning scheduled for 2027.
Once operational, the produced hydrogen will be transported through Germany’s Hydrogen Core Network (HCN) pipeline.
“The 100MW electrolyser is the centrepiece of the HyTechHafen Rostock project, which aims to advance the energy transition in Europe,” explained Michael Wurzel, Managing Director at REPCO.
“This is a crucial project for Rostock, reinforcing the position of the area as a key interchange for energy transportation.”
The project order from REPCO is Andritz’s second for a 100MW plant in Germany. The first was made by steelmaker Salzgitter, which began construction on the plant last month (February).

Sami Pelkonen, Executive Vice-President of green hydrogen at Andritz, said, “We have always emphasised that no one can achieve the green transition alone.
“That’s why we are excited to see also major German energy companies and Rostock Port as a local supporter leading by example and joining forces to drive progress.”
