Adani Total Gas (ATGL) has started blending 2.2-2.3% green hydrogen in piped natural gas (PNG) supplies in Shantigram, India.
The company announced it had commissioned its hydrogen blending system and in-situ hydrogen generation at the Adani Shantigram Township in Ahmedabad, Gujarat. The initiative is expected to provide hydrogen-blended natural gas to 4,000 domestic and commercial customers.
H2 View understands that ATGL plans to increase the percentage of green hydrogen in the blend to up to 8% or more, depending on regulatory approvals.
The Indian firm, co-promoted by Adani Group and TotalEnergies, stated that the project’s inauguration represented a “significant step” towards reducing its carbon footprint and transitioning to cleaner energy solutions.
“By blending hydrogen with natural gas, we are lowering greenhouse gas emissions, enhancing energy security and supporting sustainable development aligned to our honourable Prime Minister’s vision.”
