It has also said it will soon provide updates on its 2.2GW NEOM green hydrogen plant and Louisiana blue hydrogen project.
Norwegian Hydrogen CEO Jens Berge said the refuelling firm can now “collaborate more independently… even with competitors.”
“Importing green iron from our trading partners and allies to supplement the feed to UK and EU electric arc furnaces is the most obvious opportunity that is simply not getting publicly discussed.”
Accelera’s Andreas Lippert warns that green hydrogen can only scale meaningfully if policy hurdles, offtake uncertainty, and additionality constraints are addressed.
Backed by AHL and LONGi Green Energy Technology, the project aims to produce 1.2 million tonnes of green methanol annually for export.
The company will be looking to develop and industrialise 1MW modular systems in both containerised and “open design” solutions.
The site, located near Muscat International Airport, can produce up to 130kg of green hydrogen per day to support the deployment of 15 hydrogen-powered taxis from the state-owned transport agency Mwasalat.
The Jo Bamford-owned firm says the new model can be refuelled in just eight minutes and boasts a range of over 300 miles, which it claims is a “like-for-like replacement to diesel.”
Kellogg’s replaced fossil fuel gas with hydrogen to power the toasting oven, which is used to produce brands such as Corn Flakes, Bran Flakes, Special K and Rice Krispies.
