Flemish Minister of Mobility, Annick De Ridder, said, “From an operational and financial perspective, hydrogen is currently not a viable option for public transport in Belgium.”
Ballard Power Systems will provide fuel cell systems totalling 5MW to the Egyptian truck and bus manufacturer.
The withdrawal impacted all 25 hydrogen buses operated by MPK Poznan, with Solaris reportedly highlighting poor hydrogen quality as the most likely malfunction.
The MRNE has said 37 hydrogen fuel cell and ICE-powered vehicles will be tested, and up to nine refuelling stations could be installed.
The 2.2 MW plant in Schweinfurt is expected to produce up to 2.2 tonnes of green hydrogen per day once operational, with commissioning set for 2026.
The 2.5MW hydrogen production facility, set to generate over one tonne of hydrogen per day, is on track to become operational by 2027, powering Cluj-Napoca’s public transport and heating.
The Jo Bamford-owned firm says the new model can be refuelled in just eight minutes and boasts a range of over 300 miles, which it claims is a “like-for-like replacement to diesel.”
The new fuel cell can be used in road, rail, marine, and stationary applications and is up to two times more durable than the existing model.
Alpha H2 stated online that if the Mexico trials are successful, “orders are expected to follow.”
