ZEG to assess hydrogen production potential in Germany for TES

Tree Energy Solutions (TES) has commissioned ZEG to undertake a feasibility study assessing the implementation of hydrogen production technology in Germany.

Under a Letter of Intent (LOI), the two companies are aiming to explore opportunities for green hydrogen production in the country and expect to begin the feasibility study in September (2024), with results anticipated within the following six months.

ZEG will utilise its technology to evaluate the technical, economic and environmental aspects of deploying an initial demonstration plant for large-scale deployment of hydrogen tech.

“The ZEG technology can significantly reduce carbon emissions and contribute to a more sustainable energy mix,” explained Arild Selvig, CEO of ZEG. “This collaboration aligns perfectly with our mission to empower the world with clean energy.”

Chief Technology Officer (CTO) at TES, Jens Schmidt added, “This initiative aligns with TES’ aim to democratise access to reliable and affordable green energy through existing infrastructure to end-customers.

“The partnership with ZEG marks the beginning of a collaborative effort to advance decentralised green hydrogen production from e-NG while capturing the CO2.”

TES, alongside Uniper and Niedersachsen Ports (NPorts), is developing an import terminal for gases including hydrogen and ammonia at the port of Wilhelmshaven, Germany.

German network regulator BNetzA exempted the proposed (e)LNG terminal within the TES green energy hub from tariff and third-party access regulation in March (2024).
