Yorkshire Water has converted one of its standard trucks to use hydrogen dual fuel, marking a first in the UK water industry.
The vehicle marks the company’s first hydrogen vehicle in its fleet and will be deployed in the supply restoration team in South Yorkshire.
Last year, in a joint statement with other UK water companies, Yorkshire Water set out its pledge to reduce the industry’s carbon emissions to net zero by 2030.
Through converting its 7.5-tonne clean water tanker and removing the reliance on diesel, the company will contribute to that target by using 33% less carbon.
