Japan’s Yanmar Power Technology (YPT) says it has successfully commercialised a hydrogen fuel cell system for maritime applications, with plans to install the system on a range of vessels.
Proposing the installation of the “made-to-order” 300kW system on a range of vessels including passenger ships, work ships and cargo ships that operate in coastal areas where hydrogen refuelling is accessible, YPT aims to assist in decarbonising shipping.
Offering zero-emissions, low-vibration and low noise, YPT’s system features a gas valve unit built into the system housing to aid installation.
