The Go-Ahead Group has announced a £30m ($37.8m) investment in a pioneering bus fleet and refuelling station for services in and around Gatwick Airport has been launched.
Once delivered, the fleet will boast 54 vehicles, making it one of the biggest hydrogen bus fleets in the UK, and served by a liquid hydrogen refuelling station.
Wrightbus will supply 20 single-decker GB Kite Hydroliner buses to be deployed in the Crawley, Horley and Gatwick Airport area, with a further 34 vehicles to join the fleet over the next 18 months. They are the first hydrogen-powered vehicles to enter Go-Ahead’s 6,000 bus fleet.
