‘World’s first’ ceramic slab created using green hydrogen blend

Iris Ceramica Group has reported that they’ve developed the world’s first 4D technical ceramic slab using a green hydrogen and natural gas blend.

Developed in collaboration with Edison Next, the 3.2-metre-long slab was produced at the “H2 Factory” in Castellarano, Reggio Emilia, Italy, after it was equipped with the technologies needed to use 100% green hydrogen in 2023.

The factory utilised two temporary electrolysers with a total power output of 120kW to produce the hydrogen, powered by renewable energy. The green hydrogen blend for this initial phase was around 7%, however this will increase once the plant is finalised.
