The World Hydrogen Summit in Rotterdam has heard that the electrolyser industry must make “difficult decisions” to scale up and meet future hydrogen demand.
In a session focused on global hydrogen projects and policies, Olivia Breese, Senior Vice-President, Head of Power-to-X at Ørsted, said, “If we are collectively as an industry to move from the paper gigawatts, ambitions and targets, towards a concrete industry actually delivering the molecules to the hard-to-abate sectors then we have to make difficult decisions where everything is not in place.”
“We know we will make mistakes,” Breese said. “But it’s in making those mistakes that we learn to scale up.”
