This year’s theme for International Women’s Day focuses on Choose To Challenge, exploring what we can all do to call out gender bias and inequality whilst seeking to celebrate women’s achievements. The challenge we must tackle is for both the UK Government and businesses in the sector to actively engage more women in the UK’s hydrogen debate.
International Women’s Day looked very different last March. One year on, we have seen yet again the impact on women when they are left out of policy-making decisions.
This is especially true for the UK where policy decisions from the government are being made predominately by men. Research from The Guardian in December 2020 found that in the past six months, not a single female minister led the Covid-19 press conferences and of 20 cabinet ministers under Prime Minister Boris Johnson, 15 were male.
