The race is on to decarbonise, among others, the domestic heating sector. This is something we’re all too well aware of from various studies and reports. But it’s pulled sharply into focus when you hear the insights of those at the very heart of this business.
My colleagues at H2 View and I were privileged to do just that on a distinctly cold, wet and windy day in mid-February – the kind of day where you’d rather be putting your feet up and at home with the heating on.
There are no less than 26 million homes to be decarbonised across the UK, we heard upon our visit to the headquarters of Worcester Bosch. Around 23 million of these homes are connected to the mains gas infrastructure, of which there are more than 130,000 miles of existing pipeline across the UK.
