In a bid to reduce Volvo Trucks carbon footprint, the company will use hydrogen-based green steel to equip its heavy-duty trucks, revealed today (May 24).
The innovative hydrogen-based steel will be secured as part of a partnership with SSAB with small scale introduction of the steel set to begin in the third quarter of 2022.
The first steel produced with hydrogen will be used in the truck’s frame rails, the backbone of the truck upon which all other main components are mounted.
