Viritech and HORIBA MIRA are planning on developing hydrogen powertrain solutions for heavy goods vehicles (HGVs) aimed at maintaining the cost and operating efficiencies of existing diesel vehicles.
Under the joint programme, the companies have set out to develop technologies and services to enable vehicle OEMs, tier suppliers and fleet operators to prepare for fleet trials of fuel cell electric HGV demonstrators by 2025.
UK-based fuel cell manufacturer Intelligent Energy (IEL) will supply its IE-DRIVE HD fuel cell for the jointly developed HGV demonstrator platform and help to support the development of the fuel cell powertrain.
