Vertex Hydrogen’s HHP1 plant has been selected as one of two carbon capture, usage and storage (CCUS) hydrogen production projects to move forward into bilateral negations with the UK Government.
Planned to boast a production capacity of 350MW from 2025, the HHP1 plant, planned as part of the HyNet cluster is expected to capture 600,000 tonnes of carbon dioxide before storage.
With plans to see nearly £500m ($617m) of direct investment into the production plant, Vertex says the site will come as a critical first step in building a hydrogen economy in the North West of England.
