Verbund focusing on European green hydrogen project

Austria’s largest producer of renewable energy Verbund is developing a European project for the production, transportation and use of green hydrogen.

With the goal of extending the green electricity value chain and thus taking important steps towards decarbonisation, the project has potential to benefit both industrial users and the mobility sector.

The company today (17th Nov) announced its new focus that it will work on alongside its several flagship projects, including the construction and operation of one of the world’s largest electrolysis plants as part of the H2FUTURE project, funding by the FCH JU.

Michael Strugl, Deputy CEO of Verbund, said, “VERBUND is embracing green hydrogen, because as a producer of green electricity we believe that this sustainable product will greatly further the achievement of climate targets.”
