The US on Monday (June 5) unveiled its long awaited National Clean Hydrogen Strategy and Roadmap, offering a framework in the hope to accelerate the production, processing, delivery, storage and use of the energy carrier.
According to the strategy, there are strategic opportunities for the domestic production of 10 million tonnes of clean hydrogen annually by 2030, 20 million tonnes by 2040 and 50 million tonnes by 2050.
“Accelerating the deployment is key to achieving President Biden’s vision for an affordable, secure energy future,” said Jennifer Granholm, US Secretary of Energy.
Granholm added that the strategy will lay the foundation for a “strong and productive partnership between the public and private sectors and will guide government and industry to realise the full potential of this incredibly versatile energy resource.”
