US indicts Gautam Adani over $265m renewable energy bribery scheme

Indian tycoon Gautam Adani has been indicted by US prosecutors for his alleged role in a $265m scheme to bribe Indian officials.

Prosecutors alleged Adani and other senior executives had agreed to pay Indian officials to win contracts for his renewable energy company.

Court records show that arrest warrants have been issued in the US for Adani and his nephew, Sagar Adani, who is an executive director of Adani Green, with prosecutors planning to hand those warrants to foreign law enforcement.
