With $10m of funding from the Uruguayan Government, Italian automotive firm and local Saceem will develop a $43.5m green hydrogen production plant in the country.
The Uruguay Ministry of Industry, Energy and Mining (MIEM) said the funding through its Green Hydrogen Sector Fund would be granted over a period of 10 years.
Dubbed the H24U project, H2 View understands, it will initially aim to supply heavy-duty transport with green hydrogen, a sector responsible for around 28% of the South American country’s energy demand, according to the 2021 National Energy Balance.
