Repsol has put a pause on its three planned green hydrogen projects in Spain, amounting to 350MW of capacity, citing an unfavourable regulatory environment.
The Spanish oil and gas firm confirmed to H2 View that is has halted its €200m ($217m) plant in Cartagena (100MW), as well as projects in Tarragona (150MW) and the Basque country (100MW).
A company spokesperson told H2 View, “We can confirm that we have frozen all our planned renewable hydrogen investments in Spain due to an unfavourable regulatory environment, particularly the Government’s plans to make the windfall tax on energy companies’ permanent.”
