Universal Hydrogen completes liquid hydrogen ground test of ‘megawatt-class’ fuel cell

Universal Hydrogen has successfully run a ‘megawatt-class’ fuel cell powertrain using a liquid hydrogen supply module during ground rig testing.

Said to be “largest” fuel cell powertrain to run on liquid hydrogen, the module powered the company’s ground test rig for over 100 minutes. Universal Hydrogen has not confirmed the exact size of the fuel cell system.

Conducted at the Mojave Air & Space Port in California, US, it was the first test of the module and powertrain integrated into the same system, coming as another step towards entering passenger service in 2026.
