Universal Hydrogen has completed first demonstrations of the AmpCart™ hydrogen storage solution at Hawthorne Airport in Los Angeles, the US.
Developed in collaboration with Oshkosh AeroTech (formally JBT AeroTech), the system provides a near-term solution to the shortage of charging infrastructure for electric ground support equipment at airports.
AmpCart™ is enabled by Universal Hydrogen’s modular fuelling technology which alleviates the need for new hydrogen fuelling infrastructure while still making the airport “hydrogen-ready.”
The demonstration test involved the charging of two DHL electrified tractors using the AmpCart™ H2 prototype and portable hydrogen storage modules at Hawthorne airport. The system is now on track for operational deployment by the end of 2024.
