Uniper and First Ammonia have announced a cooperation on a hydrogen-based green ammonia project in the US at Port of Victoria, Texas.
The project will utilise solid-oxide electrolyser cells (SOEC) to deliver green ammonia and reduce greenhouse gas emissions for consumers, deploying a power-to-ammonia concept based on the integration of high temperature SOEC with exothermic ammonia synthesis process.
Each module used in the project is expected to produce up to 100,000 metric tonnes per annum of green ammonia, the equivalent to 180,000-240,000 metric tonnes avoided per year when compared to grey ammonia.
