The UK Green Building Council has today (March 23) responded to the UK’s Hydrogen Boiler Consultation, saying it sees “considerable risks and negligible opportunities” to make boilers hydrogen-ready.
In a consultation launched in December 2022, the UK Government called for views on proposals to mandate that from 2026 all newly installed gas boilers are hydrogen-ready as it looks to reduce domestic gas consumption.
“The Government’s view is that there is a strong case for the introduction of hydrogen-ready boilers as standard from this date [2026],” wrote the UKBGC, saying it disagreed with the notion.
