Gas customers in Winlaton, England, will be the first on a public UK gas network to use blended hydrogen for heating and cooking.
From December 2020, 670 homes and businesses will take part in the next stage of HyDeploy, a hydrogen energy pilot project designed to help reduce UK CO2 emissions and reach the Governments net zero target for 2050.

“We all have a duty to act to help prevent further climate breakdown which is already causing serious damage around the world,” said John McElroy, Gateshead Council’s cabinet member for environment and transport.
