The UK Secretary of State for the Department for Energy Security and Net Zero has challenged JCB to operate hydrogen combustion vehicles on roads and construction sites by the middle of 2024.
The Rt. Hon Grant Shapps visited the company in Staffordshire this week to check out JCB’s range of battery electric diggers and models running on hydrogen combustion.
“For the really bigger stuff, they’re using hydrogen combustion and that’s a unique prospect,” he said, before adding next year’s target. “JCB tell me they’ll be happy to try and achieve that objective.”
