The Department for Business, Energy & Industrial Strategy (BEIS) has appointed Energy & Utility Skills to develop a competency framework solution for the £25m hydrogen for heat programme, Hy4Heat.
Launched in 2018, Hy4Heat has a mission to replace natural gas with hydrogen in residential and commercial buildings and gas appliances where it is safe and possible to do so.
Energy & Utility Skills will support the programme by creating the competence framework for the training, accreditation, and registration of gas engineers working with hydrogen.
The framework will enable personnel working with hydrogen appliances to acquire the required knowledge and skills to operate in a competent and safe way.
