A project to roll out 30 hydrogen fuel cell heavy goods vehicles (HGVs) on UK roads by 2026 has been awarded over £30m ($36.4m) by the UK Government’s Department for Transport (DfT) and Innovate UK.
The Hydrogen Aggregated UK Logistics (HyHaul) project, led by Protium, plans to being together green hydrogen production, hydrogen logistics, refuelling and infrastructure, and fuel cell HGV players together to roll out the vehicles along a main transit corridor from London to South Wales.
Planning to roll out 30 hydrogen-fuelled vehicles weighing up to 44 tonnes with haulage operators by 2026, the consortium has said it has further ambitions of deploying 300 vehicles by 2030.
