Toyota Motor North America and Hino USA have joined forces to develop a Class 8 fuel cell electric truck for the North American market.
In order to develop the truck, the vehicle manufacturers will combine the newly developed Hino XL Series chassis with Toyota’s fuel cell technology.
The companies expect the first demonstration vehicle to be complete in the first half of 2021.
Tak Yokoo, Senior Executive Engineer at Toyota Research and Development, said, “A fuel cell powered version of the Hino XL Series is a win-win for both customers and the community.”
