TotalEnergies has acquired a 50% stake in RWE’s 795MW offshore wind farm and will provide equipment to produce 40,000 tonnes of green hydrogen per year.
After TotalEnergies won the Dutch Hollandse Kust West VII tender, it announced it would dedicate a share of the renewable electricity production from this project to power 350MW electrolyser projects.
The oil and gas major plans to decarbonise its European refineries and will use the green hydrogen produced at the OranjeWind project to replace the grey hydrogen currently powering its facilities.
Located 53km of the Dutch coast, the wind farm will is expected to also support the stability of the Dutch grid. Construction will begin in 2026 ahead of full commissioning in 2028.
