Teesside International Airport in the north east of the UK is set to introduce hydrogen-powered ground vehicles and refuelling with the backing of £8m ($10.2m) of government funding.
The UK’s Transport Secretary, Mark Harper, today (August 2) revealed ULEMCo and Element 2 will both receive a share of the funding to develop hydrogen-powered airport ground-based support vehicles and hydrogen refuelling infrastructure.
ULEMCo plans to develop hydrogen-powered vehicles such as aeroplane tow trucks and runway sweepers, which will be operated at Teesside International Airport as it strives to meet Net Zero by 2030.
