Technica Measurement launched to serve UK hydrogen market

Engineering solutions provider Technica has launched a new company dedicated to the energy industry, with a focus on the hydrogen and carbon capture economies.

Technica Measurement will utilise its fiscal metering and flow measurement of liquids and gases technology for the industry. This is understood to be key in ensuring product volumes in hydrogen storage, pipelines and generation.

Headquartered in Grimsby, UK, the maintenance, operation and verification of hydrogen production and carbon capture and storage (CCS) technologies will be the key strands of the business.

Technical Director Marc Baynham and Operations Director Steve Stocks will take on leading roles in the new venture, expected to provide a platform to “capitalise on the knowledge base, while ensuring an independent, personable business approach remains.”

Richard Law, the Business Development Director at Technica, will become Managing Director of the new company. Commenting on Technica Measurement, he said, “We are providing a contemporary service delivered with traditional values.

“Technica Measurement believes in long-term relationships with our clients and people. We want clients to have total trust that our valued and motivated team will deliver excellence and accuracy in everything we do. As an independent, specialised operation, we can do just that.”

John Davison, who launched the business 21 years ago, claimed he sees “huge potential” in the hydrogen industry.

“We have a strong body of work, more in the pipeline and we see huge potential with the development of the hydrogen economy, emergence of carbon capture and storage and further investment in gas.”
