Tasmania shows great potential for green hydrogen exports to Rotterdam, says joint study

Australia’s southeast island of Tasmania has “great potential” for green hydrogen exports, according to a joint study by the Port of Rotterdam Authority and the Tasmanian Government.

The findings of the study come after the pair signed a Memorandum of Understanding in December 2021 to assess the feasibility of exporting green hydrogen from Tasmania to Rotterdam in the Netherlands.

Since then, officials from both parties have been working to study the potential green hydrogen export supply chain, which concluded the long distance from the Tasmanian port of Bell Bay to Rotterdam was not a limiting factor.
