Sweco selected to build 3MW green hydrogen plant in Finland

European engineering consultancy Sweco has been contracted to build a 3MW green hydrogen plant in Finland.

Having taken final investment decision (FID) on the 3H2 Helsinki Hydrogen Hub in April, Finnish energy supplier Helen revealed Sweco would undertake engineering, procurement and construction management (EPCM) work on the site.

The plant planned for Vousaari is expected to open in 2026 to meet demand from heavy transport and other local customers. Waste heat generated from electrolysis could also be used in Helen’s district heating network.
