Sumitomo Rubber Industries is looking into the possibility of using hydrogen at its major tire factories in Japan as it strives to achieve carbon neutrality in its tire manufacturing processes by 2050.
The Japanese tire and rubber firm said it wanted to participate more actively in efforts to overcome the challenges in “bringing about” the hydrogen economy while also exchanging useful information with other companies and organisations.
To this end, Sumitomo Rubber has joined the Japan Hydrogen Association, an organisation that promotes global cooperation throughout the hydrogen industry as well as the formation of reliable supply chains for hydrogen.
As a member, Sumitomo Rubber said it will continue working together with various stakeholders in the interests of further developing and expanding the hydrogen economy for the future.
