Storegga has launched a four-week public consultation for its distillery decarbonisation proposal, in which green hydrogen would fuel operations.
The Speyside Hydrogen project will involve a phased build-out of hydrogen production capacity, with the first two stages expected to deliver a total of 70MW of hydrogen via two electrolyser facilities at Ballindallock, Scotland.
The initiative aims to decarbonise whisky production in Scotland – the home to 151 distilleries, with more than 50 in Moray which between them are reported to account for almost 45% of total fossil fuel demand in the region.
