Stewart Dow, who worked for UK HFCA member BOC for many years, sadly contracted COVID-19 and tragically died in April 2020. Dow was a pioneer in the commercialisation of hydrogen fuel cells. He had enormous enthusiasm and passion for supporting developments in the area of hydrogen and fuel cells.
Dow’s colleagues and friends in the hydrogen industry, together with his family, have now established an annual award in his memory. This Stewart Dow Memorial Award will be presented to recognise and encourage similar passion and enthusiasm for the development and deployment of hydrogen and fuel cells.
The Stewart Dow Memorial Award will be given to an individual or group who has either developed practical solutions or an innovative product, has been successful in commercialising fuel cells in new applications or has brought people together in a collaborative way. The award is open to groups or individuals working in academia and businesses of any size who have been working in or impacted the use of fuel cells in the UK or Ireland.
The award will be made by the UK Hydrogen and Fuel Cell Association (UKHFCA) and the Scottish Hydrogen Fuel Cell Association and will be supported by BOC. The 2020 award will be presented at the SHFCA conference on 15th October 2020.
