Stargate to provide alkaline electrolyser to Finnish project

Fortum has agreed to utilise Stargate Hydrogen’s alkaline electrolyser system at its planned production plant in Loviisa, Finland.

Located 90km east of Helsinki at Fortum’s nuclear power plant at the Kalla test centre, the 1MW system, Gateway200, will use electricity from the main grid and the household water source.

In addition to the production plant, a hydrogen refuelling station will be built to deliver hydrogen to industrial customers. H2 View understands the plant will serve as a blueprint for larger projects in the company’s pipeline. Fortum has plans to explore small-scale projects throughout the Nordics.

Worth €17m, the construction on the project is set to begin this summer (2024), anticipated to be commissioned next year (2025) and be operational for around two years.
