SSE Renewables and Siemens Gamesa have today (July 26) inked a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to produce green hydrogen from energy generated at two onshore windfarms in Scotland and Ireland.
Part of an effort to encompass the full green hydrogen value chain, the effort will see the duo work with several green hydrogen customers across a range of industries such as transportation, major distilleries and gas network operators.
It is hoped that the partnership will also support the UK and Irish Governments in reaching their individual net zero targets, including in the UK hitting 5GW of low carbon hydrogen production by 2030.
