The Spanish Government has dropped nine projects originally selected for its €1.2bn ($1.25bn) Hydrogen Valley programme, with funding efficiency, and technical, socio-economic, and environmental factors prioritised.
With projects from EDP, bp and Iberdrola dropped, the remaining seven initiatives, comprising 11 production facilities, will deliver nearly 2.3GW of electrolysis capacity in Spain by 2028.
According to the Institute for Energy Diversification and Savings (IDAE), project selection prioritised funding efficiency per megawatt of electrolysis capacity and considered technical, socio-economic and environmental factors such as financial solvency, company expertise and project maturity.
