Spain awards €100m to seven green hydrogen projects

The Spanish Government on Tuesday (June 6) granted €100m ($107.7m) in aid to seven projects that look set to integrate electrolysers into industrial settings for green hydrogen production.

Awarded by the Ministry of Ecological Transition and the Demographic Challenge (MITECO), each of the seven projects set to receive grants of €10m ($10.7m) and €15m ($16.1m) across five autonomous communities in the country.

Despite offering little detail on where the funding is destined for, with projects in Andalusia, Valencia, Astrias, Galicia and Castile-La Mancha, MITECO says €60m ($64.6m) has been allocated in Just Transition and Demographic Challenge regions, such as areas around the former thermal power plants of Carboneras (Almeria), Meirama (A Courña), and the thermoelectric complex of Aboño (Asturias), and more.
