Solaris agrees to deploy more hydrogen-powered buses in Germany

Solaris will deliver a total of 26 Solaris Urbino 12 hydrogen-powered buses to its German customer REVG Kerpen in North Rhine-Westphalia.

The sustainable bus manufacturer has already delivered the first two units to Kerpen, with the remaining vehicles set to be delivered in 2025.

Each bus will be equipped with a 70kW hydrogen fuel cell provided by Ballard Power Systems, that will generate electrical energy onboard and be powered by central electric motors.

H2 View understands that Solaris is the largest hydrogen bus manufacturer in Europe, capturing 44.5% of the market share in 2023 alone. Hydrogen-powered buses have already been deployed in German locations, such as Cologne, Frankfurt and the Munich Metropolitan area, with further contracts in progress for Krefeld, Hamburg and Duisburg.
