Siemens has revealed €30m ($33.7m) plans to develop a German town into a “competence centre” for hydrogen technologies.
As part of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed yesterday with the Free State of Saxony and the Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft, Siemens will establish an innovation campus and startup accelerator at the site of its plant in Görlitz.
The plans also call for the creation of a hydrogen research laboratory to study the production, storage and use of hydrogen.
“Görlitz is thus to be developed into a competence center for hydrogen technologies over the long term,” Siemens explained in a press release.
