Siemens Energy and chemical company BASF are considering building a 50MW hydrogen facility at the latter’s Ludwigshafen site in Germany.
The plans have been revealed as part of a strategic partnership the two firms have formed to accelerate commercial implementation of new technologies designed to lower greenhouse gas emissions.
The possible pilot project would see a proton exchange membrane (PEM) electrolyser for hydrogen production with an output of 50MW constructed, with the possibility of modular capacity expansions.
