The Advancing the Clean Hydrogen Future Act of 2021 has been introduced by US Senator Martin Heinrich to establish a research, development, demonstration, and deployment programme to reduce the cost of improve the efficiency of hydrogen production.
Focused on hydrogen production via electrolysis, which use electricity to split water and create green hydrogen, the legislation provides a five-year expanded authorisation that integrates and strengthen the US Department of Energy’s electrolyser research programme.
Commenting on his new legislation, Senator Heinrich, said, “Hydrogen will play a critical role in the clean energy transition and reaching zero carbon emissions, especially in parts of the US economy that cannot be easily electrified.
