Sumitomo Corporation subsidiary UK Summit Energy Evolution Limited (SEEL) and Progressive Energy have signed a joint development agreement (JDA) for a hydrogen production facility.
Located in the vicinity of the Bacton gas terminals, southeast UK, the Bacton Hydrogen Hub will focus on the production of CCS-enabled hydrogen beginning by 2030, with succession planning for electrolytic hydrogen production after 2040.
It aims to contribute towards the UK’s low carbon hydrogen targets to support the development of a country-wide sustainable hydrogen economy, along with industrial decarbonisation at local and regional scales.
