Scotland awards £200,000 to study on exporting hydrogen to Germany

The Scottish Government has awarded £200,000 ($241,700) to the Net Zero Technology Centre (NTZC) to demonstrate the feasibility hydrogen exports from Scotland to Germany.

With the funding, NZTC’s research will analyse and integrate previous work as well as other European projects to demonstrate the feasibility and economic opportunity of exporting hydrogen to Germany and solidify the case for infrastructure investment.

It comes after an NZTC report suggested a purpose-built marine pipeline could see the UK nation meet 10% of Europe’s hydrogen import demand by the mid 2030s.
