Sasol, Toyota South Africa Motors (TSAM) and Air Products South Africa (APSA) have demonstrated a hydrogen mobility ecosystem in Johannesburg.
Taking place at the Smarter Mobility Africa Summit on Monday (October 2), the proof-of-concept ecosystem used a Toyota Mirai fuel cell electric vehicle (FCEV) fuelled with Sasol-produced hydrogen dispensed by Air Products technology, to take several passengers around a test track.
Coming off the back of a partnership formed between the three companies in 2021 to promote the use of hydrogen as a future fuel, the demonstrated was used to showcase the potential for hydrogen to decarbonise hard-to-abate and hard-to-electrify heavy-duty transport.
