German-headquartered RWE, Japan’s Mitsui, and the UK’s Port of Tilbury have formed a partnership to explore using green hydrogen to decarbonise the port’s operations.
Under a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), the international trio will work to see the port situated on the river Thames in Essex become a hub for hydrogen activity, through two key work streams.
Initially, they will look to develop a small-scale demonstrator to produce green hydrogen that will be utilised to decarbonise port equipment, allowing them to switch away from fossil fuels.
